I’m currently on an artist residency at Sadeh Farm in Orpington. It’s a Jewish farm that does an amazing spread of land-based work, community work, and cross-cultural exchange. While I’m here I’ve been mainly tying up loose ends, which has involved lots of reading back over material written over many years, editing some live recordings of a new Klezmer band Shpilkes Corner, going through a recording session with Heidi Heidelberg of Witch ‘n’ Monk, editing and putting out some experimental electronic music under a pseudonym, and storyboarding a trailer for my theatre show Behind the Beat (I’m experimenting with my Grandad’s Sony DV camera (pictured below). Oh, and I’ve occasionally fed the chickens, gone for walks and repeatedly refilled my hot water bottle and made loads of comforting wintery food. AND I did a proper Sabbath whilst here with my partner, which felt great! Tomorrow they’re planting the first garlic of the season, and I’ll be honoured to help with that.
I am very grateful to Help Musicians UK, who made this residency possible through their Fast Track award.
Here’s a few snaps…
